How much is an eye exam for glasses? How much for a
contact lens exam?
- A comprehensive eye exam is $65.00. A contact lens exam is $90
and up depending on the complexity of your fit. For example, if you have
an astigmatism, you might need a toric lens so that would be a little
more. You can see all of our professional services and fees
here.
What areas of Seattle do you serve?
- We are proud to be located inside the NEW Woodinville Costco in
Woodinville, WA. The Woodinville Costco is located in Seattle's
Eastside on the north end in Woodinville right off of Highway 522 at the
exit for Highway 9. Directions to our office and business hours
can be found here.
- We have patients from all over Seattle and the Greater Eastside:
Woodinville, Maltby, Monroe, Mill Creek, Bothell, Kenmore, Lynnwood,
Redmond, Snohomish, Duvall, Carnation and more. Many of our patients know Dr. Hirano
from when he worked as an Eye Doctor at Costco in Issaquah for over five
years so we also have patients coming from as far as Issaquah, Snoqualmie, North
Bend, Sammamish, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Seattle, Renton and more.
King County, Snohomish County, Pierce County or whatever area you are
from! Affordable, state-of-the-art eyecare from a good eye doctor
is worth the trip -- and you can't beat the prices and customer service!
Do you bill any vision insurance plans?
- Yes we do. We are a preferred provider for the following
insurance plans: Aetna, Regence, Premera, Lifewise and
Spectera. Please let us know if you have any of these vision
insurance plans when you make your appointment. In addition, please find
out your vision coverage from your provider before your appointment and
bring in your insurance card with you.
You don't bill for my insurance plan. Can I still come in for an eye
exam?
- Yes! Our prices are the best around for eyecare. You can take
advantage of our quality, comprehensive eye exams at a great price and
if you want to you can send in a claim to your insurance yourself.
We cannot guarantee that the eye exam will be covered, but we suggest
that you call your insurance plan before you come in to check your
vision insurance coverage. The receipt you receive from us when
you make payment will have all the coding and necessary information in
order to do
this yourself.
What forms of payment do you take?
- We would prefer cash, personal check or debit card. We can
also take American Express, Visa or Mastercard credit cards if needed.
Payment is due for services rendered.
How long does it take to get an appointment for an eye
exam?
- We pride ourselves in being a busy practice yet having many options
for appointments for our busy patients. We are open 6 days a week.
See our office hours and location page for our business hours. We take
walk-in appointments often; most of the time there is a possibility for
same day appointments and certainly within the same week. Just
give us a call at (425) 806-7704 and Judy or Lisa will be happy to
assist you. Or, if you are shopping at Costco, feel free to stop
by for a same day appointment or to schedule for another day. We
are here for you!
How long does an eye exam take?
- This is a great question to answer for our patients who are already
shopping at Costco or have a busy day and want to fit in an eye exam.
Usually, from start to finish, your time with us will take 20-40
minutes. To see what is included in a comprehensive eye exam, see
here. We
have you fill out some simple paperwork, go through some pre-testing
with our friendly office staff (Judy, Kathy or SueAnn) and then you will meet with Dr.
Hirano or Dr. Alibhai for the rest of your thorough eye exam.
I am interested
in contact lenses. Can Dr. Hirano fit me with contacts?
- Certainly! Whether you have worn contact lenses before or want
to try them for the first time, we can assist you. There has been
a lot of exciting developments in the contact lens industry and we have
the latest lenses at our disposal. Dr. Hirano has a lot of
experience fitting and training first time contact lens wearers and has
a lot of new options for those going back into contacts.
I know I will receive a prescription when I have an eye exam. What
does Dr. Hirano check as far as my eye health is concerned?
- Checking the health of your eyes is an important and essential part of your
comprehensive eye exam. Dr. Hirano's
Optometric Residency
was at the American Lake VA hospital where he was well trained in the
areas of ocular pathology, council and treatment of ocular disease and
general health in relation to your eyesight. This is specifically
helpful for diabetic and glaucoma patients where your eye health is an
important part of your overall health. When you have your eye
exam, we will check the pressures of your eyes to check for glaucoma as
well as Dr. Hirano will do a complete ocular health evaluation,
including a dilation if necessary. More information on our
comprehensive eye exams can be found
here.
I don't have a Costco card (I am not a member of Costco).
Can I still come in for an eye exam?
- Sure - you do not have to have a Costco card in order to have an eye
exam with Woodinville Family Eyecare. When you get to the entrance
of Costco, just let them know you are there to see the Optometrist and
they will let you inside. The only thing to keep in mind is that
while you will receive your prescription from us, without a Costco card
you won't be able to take advantage of the exceptional prices for
eyeglasses or contact lenses at Costco Optical.
